Dumb Athletes

At least Jason Pierre-Paul and CJ Wilson aren't the dumbest fireworks users in the US.  Each lost at least 1 finger to stupidity with fireworks.  Before our non-audience corrects me and says that we don't know for sure that they were stupid with the fireworks, let me intervene.  YOU LIGHT THE FUSE AND FUCKING RUN AWAY!!!!  Sadly, they are the third and fourth dumbest people in America because one idiot thought shooting a mortar off from his head was a good idea.  The other thought lighting fireworks from his chest was a good idea.  What do those two have in common?  They are now poster-children for natural selection, AKA dead.

I'm not sure why I cared enough to comment about this, but for some reason the sheer stupidity bothered me.

  1. the dudes mother who lit the mortar off his head is going to successfully lobby maine's congress to ban "those" type of fireworks. so basically anytime anyone does something stupid as shit now....aka lighting a goddamn grenade on your head...then things within the industry must change, we can't accept responsibility and just say yep this person died or was injured because they are a hillbilly moron. its sad. and in regards to jpp and cj wilson, they need to get some new crew because they didn't say hey holding a firework in your hand as you light it isnt' smart

  2. As someone who has launched bottlerockets from a loosely clenched fist, I have to point out that part of the equation is what fireworks you're lighting and what you're doing with them, but yeah, use your friggin head. I wonder how this effects those guys' playing careers. I don't know how much losing a finger will impact technique in what they do defensively, but that would be an interesting discussion. More to the point, how many teams are going to want to commit to guys who are this short-sighted? This is hardly the worst behavior from a moral point of view, but from a professional stance it's awfully hard to overlook the fact that you'd be paying a guy who might do something stupid tomorrow. And this is why NFL contracts aren't guaranteed.
